By Thursday, a growing memorial had formed outside the school. Flowers, candles and messages were placed near the campus entrance as members of the community gathered to remember the teenager.

One parent, whose daughter knew Nungarary, described him as quiet and kind.

The investigation took on another dimension after videos reportedly began circulating online showing what appeared to be an altercation inside a classroom shortly before the fall. Police said they were aware of the footage but stated that there was no evidence of foul play in the teen’s death.

According to descriptions of the videos, another student appears to confront Nungarary inside a classroom. A teacher can reportedly be seen attempting to intervene before Nungarary is struck. He then appears to leave the classroom and run through a hallway before going over a fourth-floor railing.

The footage has fueled questions among students and parents about what led up to the tragedy. However, the videos circulating online do not by themselves establish the full sequence of events or determine what caused Nungarary to go over the railing.

Family members have also said Nungarary had experienced bullying. That claim remains part of the broader discussion surrounding the circumstances leading up to his death, while investigators continue examining the incident.

Classes resumed Thursday, but the tragedy was clearly weighing on students. Some families chose to keep their children home as they processed the loss.

The Los Angeles Unified School District said counseling services were available to students and staff following the incident. A vigil was also held as members of the Highland Park community came together to honor Nungarary.

For parents in the neighborhood, the incident has raised painful concerns about what children may experience at school and how quickly a confrontation can escalate.

As investigators continue working to establish exactly what happened, the memorial outside Franklin High has become a place for classmates and neighbors to grieve.

Nungarary’s death has left a school community mourning a young life that ended unexpectedly, while questions surrounding the moments before his fatal fall remain under investigation.
