John Ritter’s Sons Are Now Adults, Many Fans Say They Look Nearly Identical To Him

More than two decades after John Ritter’s death, fans are still finding new reasons to remember the beloved actor — and his two sons may be providing one of the most striking reminders yet.

Jason and Tyler Ritter have followed their father’s path into Hollywood, building acting careers of their own. But when the brothers recently appeared together, many longtime fans were less interested in their latest projects and more captivated by something they couldn’t ignore: the resemblance to their famous father.

John Ritter, best known for playing the lovable and accident-prone Jack Tripper on Three’s Company, died suddenly in 2003 at age 54. He left behind four children, including Jason and Tyler.

As Jason has grown older, fans have increasingly pointed out the similarities between father and son. His facial expressions, mannerisms and overall appearance have prompted comparisons that have become especially noticeable in recent years.

Seeing Jason and Tyler side by side only intensified those observations.

Some fans said Jason strongly resembles John from his younger years, while others saw elements of their father in both brothers. The reactions reflected how recognizable Ritter’s features remain, even more than 20 years after his passing.

But the connection between the brothers and their father goes far beyond appearance.

John was born in Burbank, California, in 1948 and came from an entertainment family. His father, Tex Ritter, was a country singer and actor, while his mother, Dorothy Fay, was an actress.

Acting was not initially John’s career plan. While attending USC, he studied psychology and architecture before discovering drama and eventually earning a degree in theater arts.

His television career took off with appearances on shows including The Waltons, MASH, Hawaii Five-O and The Mary Tyler Moore Show. His breakthrough arrived with a role that would forever define his career.

In 1977, Ritter became Jack Tripper on Three’s Company, transforming him into one of television’s biggest comedy stars. His physical humor and impeccable timing made the character unforgettable.

Yet Ritter continued exploring dramatic work, appearing in films and television projects such as Sling Blade, Problem Child and Hooperman. He later voiced Clifford in Clifford the Big Red Dog and returned to sitcom television with 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter.

That series became his final television role.

Ritter passed away on Sept. 11, 2003, following an aortic dissection. His unexpected death occurred on the fifth birthday of his youngest daughter, Stella, making the tragedy even more heartbreaking for his family.

Today, Jason and Tyler continue carrying forward their father’s legacy in their own careers.

Their family has also worked to raise awareness about aortic disease through the John Ritter Foundation for Aortic Health. The family has emphasized the importance of recognizing warning signs and seeking appropriate screening, particularly when there is a family history of aortic conditions.

For fans who grew up watching John Ritter, the sight of his sons can bring back a flood of memories.

John may have been gone for more than 20 years, but when Jason and Tyler appear together, many viewers see something familiar staring right back at them — a lasting reminder of the actor whose face, humor and legacy remain instantly recognizable.
